To celebrate the return of their New Yorker pie, Pizza Hut decided to make the world's largest pizza at the Los Angeles Convention Center this past Wednesday. It took 13,653 pounds of dough, 4,948 pounds of pizza sauce, more than 8,800 pounds of cheese, and about 630,496 slices of pepperoni to make the 13,990-square-foot pizza. Then it was baked in pieces. Today, it was confirmed by Guinness that Pizza Hut has indeed succeeded in making the world's largest pizza!
Pizza Hut announced that the 68,000 slices of pizza would not be wasted. Instead, they were donated to local food banks to feed the needy as soon as Guinness documented it.
