A new study from University College Cork is giving coffee lovers another reason to pour a cup. Researchers have found that both regular and decaf coffee may help improve mood, focus and even reduce anxiety. They studied how coffee affects the gut-brain axis and discovered that decaf coffee appeared to support learning and memory, while caffeinated coffee was linked to improved focus and lower stress levels. Doctors say the benefits may come from plant compounds and polyphenols in coffee rather than caffeine alone, which could be good news for people who are sensitive to caffeine. The study was small, with about 60 participants, and experts caution that coffee affects everyone differently, especially people with certain conditions.
