Elle King posted additional rescheduled show dates on her Instagram story on Thursday morning (January 25), following an announcement of a postponed performance at an iconic Texas venue one day earlier. Explanations for the last-minute change of plans were not provided; however, many have noted that the changes come shortly after King performed a Dolly Parton tribute that led to an apology from the Grand Ole Opry.
King’s rescheduled shows include: Blue Gate Performing Arts Center in Shipshewana, Indiana, now set for March 21; The Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois, now set for March 22; Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Michigan, now set for March 29 and March 30; and Billy Bob’s in Dallas, Texas, now set for September 21. A note on King’s Instagram story reads: “Your tickets will be valid for the new dates. I f you can’t make the new date, refunds are available at point of purchase. See you there!” King's next performance date listed on her website is set for March 1 in Tempe, Arizona.
Billy Bob’s Texas announced on Wednesday (January 24) that King’s performance that was originally set for Friday (January 26) would be pushed back to September. A representative for Billy Bob’s reportedly told TMZ that King’s team told Billy Bob’s on Wednesday that the Come Get Your Wife star would no longer perform. They did not provide a reason why.
The rescheduled shows come shortly after King performed in the “Opry Goes Dolly” lineup, paying tribute to the country music legend in honor of her 78th birthday, on Friday, January 19. The show was held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Videos circulated on social media of King telling the audience she was “f***ing hammered,” and said, “sh*t, don’t tell Dolly,” as she appeared to forget the lyrics to Parton’s “Marry Me,” among other comments using profanity. That led to complaints from some fans – and Parton’s younger sister, Stella Parton – on social media, and the Opry responded to one of them, stating: “…we deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance.”
King has not publicly addressed her “Opry Goes Dolly” performance as of publication time on Thursday morning.
