Darius Rucker shared a sweet moment with a fan on TikTok who sought to get a message to the country music superstar. The TikTok user, Chelsey, sought to reach Rucker to ask if he could dedicate a song to her late father at an upcoming show.
Chelsey explained that she and her family are longtime fans of the “Beers and Sunshine” artist. She noted that Rucker would be playing a show in Virginia on Saturday, August 27, which happens to be her dad’s birthday.
“For those who don’t know, my dad passed away about seven months ago due to COVID/pneumonia, and I was wondering, Darius, if maybe that night you could dedicate one song to to my father?” Chelsey explained in her TikTok, set to Rucker’s 2008 hit “Alright.” “My mom and I will be there, and this will leave her absolutely speechless.” Chelsey asked Rucker whether he would be willing to message her to come up with a song to dedicate to her dad, and shared a few photos of him. Hundreds to TikTok users commented on her video, which was originally posted on May 27.
Rucker shared his reactions throughout the video, including, “I love this!!!,” “I’d love to meet you and your mom at the show,” and “Your dad sounds like an awesome guy.” Rucker posted the duet on Thursday (August 18), sharing to Chelsey in the caption: “See you and your mom next week in Virginia!” Watch it here:
