The man who stopped Travis Reinking in the shooting is being hailed as a hero. James Shaw Jr. said he and a friend weren't even supposed to be at the Waffle House where the shooting occurred after a night out at a club. Shaw said they were sitting at the tabletops and remember a cook was washing dishes and stacking up the plates. Upon hearing the first shots, the Nashville resident initially thought plates were falling over. But after hearing multiple shots coming from outside the restaurant, he saw glass breaking and employees and other patrons starting to scatter. Shaw explained Reinking shot through door and the bullet grazed his arm. That's when Shaw made the decision to stop Reinking as he said the suspect was going to have to work to kill him. At the time the suspect was reloading, Shaw hit the suspect with the swivel door, the rifle ended up jamming and the pair began to scuffle. Shaw was able to grab the rifle and throw it over the counter before getting the suspect out of the restaurant altogether. Reinking remains at large
