Ralph Johnson of Sacramento, California, was upset when his dog, Cognac, ran away and he was heartbroken when he found a dog that looked like his on the side of the road that had been hit and killed. He took the dog in to be cremated at the shelter and says he was “a wreck” over the loss.
But a few days later, Johnson got a call from another animal shelter saying they found Cognac. He was confused, but after they checked the dog’s microchip, they confirmed that his pet was still alive. It turns out, the dog he found on the road was a look alike and now he’s thrilled to have his companion back, all thanks to his microchip.
