Nonprofit Donates New House To Vet Injured In Iraq

An Oklahoma soldier who was severely injured while serving in Iraq is getting a new home designed with him in mind, thanks to the nonprofit group Homes For Our Troops. Army Specialist Adam Putt was serving as a rifleman on August 2nd, 2007 when he lost both legs in an IED blast. His new house has more than 40 special adaptations, including wider doorways for wheelchair access, a roll-in shower, and lowered countertops, all to make life a little easier for the vet.

“Injured veterans lose their mission and goals, not just limbs. In this home I will regain my freedom and independence, enabling me to carry on another mission,” Putt explains. “Having a new home gives me the freedom to pursue my education and enjoy activities with my children.”
