Science Says Broccoli Could Be “Achilles Heel” Of Cancer

If you’re like me and not eating your broccoli, it’s time we start. A new study finds that the cruciferous veggie contains an amazing ingredient that could be the “Achilles’ heel” of cancer. The tiny, but powerful molecule is known as WWP1 and it “deactivates the gene responsible for cancerous tumor growth.”

Lead study author Dr. Pier Paolo Pandolfi says the discovery could lead to new cancer treatments. Researchers point out that someone would have to eat close to six pounds of the uncooked vegetable every day to get the anti-cancer benefits, but they’re encouraged by the findings. Pandolfi says the discovery could be the key to “unlocking one of the most important tumor suppressors in the history of cancer genetics.”
