Some pregnant women literally spend days waiting for their newborn to decide to make their entrance, but for others it goes much quicker. When Melissa Dawson had her first daughter, she was in labor for 43 hours, so she was completely blown away when she went into labor with her second baby while she was home alone and it all happened so fast, the mom delivered her by herself.
Dawson says daughter number two’s birth only took about 10 minutes from the time her water broke until she was born. The new mom-of-two explains that her birth “maybe took a minute” and says she only had three sharp pains before her baby was here. It all happened so fast, her husband, Greg, didn’t have time to make it back to their Dunellen, New Jersey home from his family’s home 20 minutes away before their baby girl arrived.
Paramedics took mom and baby Bria Belle to the hospital to be checked out after the home birth and they were both able to go home two days later. Now the proud papa is even more impressed with his wife for delivering their baby alone.
“She’s stronger than I could have ever imagined,” Greg says. “This whole experience taught me to love, respect and cherish my wife, so it’s beautiful.”
