John Berry revealed in a post on Facebook that he is battling cancer, but the good news is he says the disease is “highly treatable and has an incredible cure rate.”
In the video, John says before his recent Christmas tour he noticed a “catch” in his throat, explaining that it felt like the “skin of a Spanish peanut” was stuck in it. Turns out his tonsils were swollen, and he was given antibiotics and steroids but that didn’t help. A CT scan later revealed tumors on his tonsils, and they were removed, but tests showed it was cancer.
“You don’t see fear on these faces,” his wife Robin says in the video. “We have a planned regimen and John is undergoing treatment for about five weeks. We’ve had to move a couple of tour dates around. All is going well. We are trusting God to get us through this time.”
Berry is expected to begin chemo this week and is already looking forward to his time back out on the road, noting, “I’ll be looking forward to a busy tour schedule come late spring.”
Robin encourages fans to reach out. “There is nothing greater that John needs right now than to hear from you guys that love him so very much.” You can send John an e-mail at JohnBerryMusic413@gmail.com
