The Gipper is back, at least in hologram form. This, as a three-dimensional hologram of President Ronald Reagan is going to be unveiled at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute today.
This is the first light-based depiction of a former commander in chief – think Disney’s “Hall of Presidents” on steroids. Apparently, library staff received help from top Hollywood special effects artists to bring the 40th President to future generations. There are three different hologram depictions that will play in a theater at the library.
One is inside the Oval Office, the second is during his 1984 campaign whistle-stop train tour, and thea third from his vacation home. The one from the ranch includes a hologram of one of Reagan's beloved dogs. To make it, they hired an identical golden retriever to play the part. The audio used is actual recordings of Reagan, who was 93 when he died in 2004.
