Bettor Risked More Than $1,500 To Win About $1 On Alabama

Alabama had what we would call a cupcake game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, and the end result was quite predictable. Nick Saban’s team may have left some gamblers disappointed, but one brazen bettor was more than happy to earn a free buck.

At 49-point favorites over the Rajin’ Cajuns, Alabama failed to cover with a 56-14 victory. However, one bettor cashed a slip by placing a $1,579.65 bet on the money line, meaning the Tide simply had to win straight up. Since the odds of Alabama winning the game outright were about -99,000, the bettor went home with a whopping $1.60.

While it would have been arguably the biggest upset in sports history if Alabama lost, most people simply feel odds like that aren’t worth it. No matter how much of a lock something is, risking that much money to win so little is something gamblers are rarely open to.
