A new musical set in the world of country music is having a hard time finding their George Strait.
“Tennessee Whiskey: The Musical” is centered around Country Songwriter Hall of Fame member Dean Dillon, who wrote songs for Strait, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Chris Stapleton and more. George plays a big role in the show, and now producers have launched an online search for somebody to play him.
“If we’ve learned anything from shows like ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol,’ it’s that great singers come from everywhere and may not always have the opportunity to live in a major city for casting," the show's writer and producer Dewey Moss says in a press release. "The character of George Strait is integral to our show and sings some very famous songs, and the fans will want to hear an authentic country singer. So we’re excited to start this national talent search..."
Those interested in trying out for the role can submit a video of themselves performing a George classic to http://www.tennesseewhiskeythemusical.com/
If they are impressive enough they could get an invitation to one of the national auditions, which will happen this summer in New York, Nashville and Las Vegas.
