The NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2019 will be announced at 5 p.m. this afternoon, with the Hall’s Voting Panel meeting throughout the day to select the five inductees who will be enshrined early next year. The list of eligible honorees includes five first-time nominees: four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, famed team owners John Holman and Ralph Moody, title-winning crew chief Kirk Shelmerdine and driver Harry Gant. The list includes fifteen holdovers from the 2018 ballot led by drivers Buddy Baker, Alan Kulwicki and Bobby Labonte; and legendary engine builder Waddell Wilson. The winner of the fifth annual Landmark Award also will be announced today. This year’s nominees include long-time Motor Racing Network announcer Barney Hall, who passed away in 2016. The award reflects outstanding contributions to NASCAR, and is presented to an individual for being a general ambassador of the sport and working toward its growth.
