A homeless Girl Scout troop has exceeded their cookie selling goals. Troop six-thousand of New York City was created in 2016 to serve girls living in the city's homeless shelters. Since its inception the girls in the troop have wanted to sell Girl Scout cookies. They finally got to do that and the sale was a rousing success. They set a first-time goal of selling six thousand boxes and by the end of their six-day stint at New York's Union Square they had sold more than 32 thousand boxes. In addition to raising thousands of dollars for troop activities the girls were reportedly most excited just to be able to sell cookies just like other Girl Scout troops across the country.
