Lowe’s To End Hendrick Sponsorship After 2018 Season

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Advance Auto Parts Clash - Practice

Long-time sponsor Lowe’s Companies, Incorporated will not return to Jimmie Johnson’s Number-48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet after the 2018 season is completed.  The North Carolina-based home improvement company has been the team’s lone primary sponsor since 2001, sharing in Johnson’s record-tying seven NASCAR Cup Series championships and eighty-three race wins.  Johnson, 42, is under contract to Hendrick Motorsports through the 2020 season.  He is the only driver to compete in NASCAR’s post-season playoffs each year since the concept was introduced in 2004.  The press release issued Wednesday afternoon did not name a replacement for Lowe’s.  Johnson is scheduled to address the media on Friday morning in Fontana, California, in advance of Sunday’s Auto Club 400.  Johnson is off to a slow start this season.  His best finish in four races is twelfth place eleven days ago in Las Vegas.  He’s tied with A-J Allmendinger for twenty-fifth place in the standings, sixteen points outside the top twenty.
