To no one’s surprise, Georgia is out of the College Football Playoff top 4 after a shocking 40-17 blowout to Auburn this weekend.
And like we also expected, the one-loss Bulldogs find themselves at Number 7—one spot behind the two-loss Tigers who sit at Number 6.
But you don’t care about who’s out, you wanna know who’s in and that would be Alabama who took over a spot they are familiar with – at Number 1.
At Number 2 is Clemson, who also benefited from Saturday's shakeups, as the Clemson went from Number 4 to Number 2 following losses by Georgia and Notre Dame—who was also blown out 41-8 by then Number 7 Miami.
I say “then” because now they are the Number 3 ranked Hurricanes while the Irish fall all the way to number 8.
And Number 4 belongs to another – the Sooners – who are 9-1 after a 38-20 win over Big 12 foe TCU on Saturday that dropped the Horned Frogs sixth to 12th.
Oklahoma had been holding steady at No. 5 in the CFP rankings, but finally made the move into the top four.
As for the undefeated Wisconsin Badgers sit outside looking in at Number 5 as the highest ranked Big Ten school. The Badgers (9-0) have plowed their way through a weak schedule and may need someone else to lose in order to make the jump into the top four, even if they win out.
But given how the past 11 weeks have gone, that is very possible.
