Zoo Puts People In Cages And Lets The Animals Roam

Greenville Zoo

At Monarto Zoo in Australia, it's the humans who are in the cages. The newest exhibit, Lions 360, has visitors go inside a cage which allows them to walk into the midst of 11 lionesses.

Despite climbing all around and even over the cage filled with tasty humans, zoo officials say the lioness aren't naturally aggressive. "They are the kings and queens in Africa so they know they can command the power and attention from all of the other animals, so that's what they are doing here," zoo keeper Anna Bennett explains. "They know they are getting a reaction. Everyone reacts and so they will continue to behave that way."

It's expected that Lions 360 will bring an extra 3-thousand visitors to the park each year.
