Bill Gates Pledges $100-Million For Alzheimer’s Treatments

CEO's And Corporate Executives Gather For Annual Allan And Co Gathering In Sun Valley

Bill Gates is out there doing good with his money and trying to make the world a better place again. The billionaire Microsoft co-founder has committed to invest $50-million in the Dementia Discovery Fund, a venture capital fund that’s working to find treatments for the memory-stealing condition.

And he’s not stopping there, Gates says after this investment he plans to donate another $50-million to several start-ups working with Alzheimer’s research. He says with more people suffering from this disease and other forms of dementia, it’s becoming a bigger emotional and financial burden as people live longer.

There have been decades of research but there’s still no treatment that slows the progression of Alzheimer’s, the drugs today just ease some of the symptoms. But Gates says he’s “optimistic” treatments can be found. “I hope that in the next 10 years that we have some powerful drugs,” he says.
