A student who was injured on a school bus when it was struck in the deadly terrorist attack in New York City this week went back to school the very next day. Why was the 17-year-old in such a rush to return? He was trying to get 100% perfect attendance, according to New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña.
When she talked to the teen, he told her, “I told myself I’m going to be fine because a lot of people want to help me.”
Mayor Bill de Blasio came to Stuyvesant High School to visit with students and says they told him they thought it was “their duty to be back” at school to mourn those who were lost and to show “terror would not stop us.”
