A former Army Special Forces combat medic will receive the Medal of Honor today at the White House. President Trump will present the nation's highest military honor to Vietnam War vet Gary Rose. Rose was a 22-year-old medic when he gave doses of morphine to wounded soldiers so they could keep moving and avoid capture over four days behind enemy lines in Laos. Rose was wounded during the unit's scramble through the jungle before they were rescued. The 69-year-old California native is retired from the manufacturing industry and now lives in Huntsville, Alabama.
