Deshaun Watson celebrated his 22nd birthday in style last night as he started his first ever NFL game and left with a 13-9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that featured one TD.
And since it was his day, why not make it his TD? With the game tied at three a piece late in the first half, Watson avoided a heavy Bengals pass rush—and then ran 49 yards for his first career TD and a 10-3 lead that the Texans never gave back.
Aside from that, it was a great game (if you like kickers) as the fifteen of the 18 first half drives ended with kicks. That’s a dozen punts and three field goals.
And there was more of the same in the second half as fans were treated to another seven punts and a field goal by each team.
Meanwhile, the Bengals lost their second straight home game, and have failed to score a touchdown in their two games to open a season for the first time in their 50 seasons.
