Kid Uses Birthday Money To Help Hurricane Victims
Every year, five-year-old Ella Russell takes her birthday money and puts 10% in the bank and gives another 10% to charity. And after seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, this Tennessee tot knew where her birthday money was going this year.
This little kindergartener knows the power of doing good deeds, so she decided to buy water for those in Texas displaced by the natural disaster. Thanks to loved ones and social media, her $10 has turned into about $280 and 146 cases of water.
“I have been trying to teach her it doesn’t matter your creed, color or gender; we all have to help each other,” Ella’s mom Jennifer Perkins explains. “We just want to inspire other people to give. Our main goal is that these people aren’t forgotten."
