NYC Police Widow Gives Birth Years After Husband Is Murdered

Federal Judge Rules NYPD's Stop-and-Frisk Practice Violates Rights

A New York City police widow has given birth two-and-a-half years after her husband was gunned down in a police ambush. Pei Xia (Pay-zhuh) Chen gave birth to Detective Wenjian Liu's baby girl on Monday using sperm saved and frozen before her husband died. The couple had been married just three months when he was executed in December 2014, alongside Detective Rafael Ramos, as the two sat in a parked patrol car in Brooklyn. The baby, conceived through in vitro fertilization, is named Angelina. Chen says she can't wait to introduce her to what she calls her "big blue family" and to tell Angelina that her father was a hero.
