Baseball Fan Honors Friend's Memory In Ballpark Bathrooms

A New York baseball fan is honoring the memory of a longtime friend in a unique way. Tom McDonald is spreading the ashes of fellow Mets fan Roy Riegal by flushing them down restroom toilets in ballparks across the country. McDonald told "The New York Times" he's flushed Mr. Riegal's ashes in 16 stadiums so far after performing the ritual at Citi Field in Flushing Meadows, New York this season. Riegal was a plumber, so McDonald says pouring his essence into the plumbing at ballparks is a fitting tribute. There are rules: the ‘spreading’ must happen during a game, and if Tom has to use the restroom for more traditional reasons, there must be a separate flush in between…
