Jeff Cook, a founding member of Alabama, is battling Parkinson's disease. "The Tennessean" reports, he was diagnosed four-years ago, but just shared the news with fans yesterday. Cook, who plays the fiddle and is a vocalist in the band, will step back from those duties beginning April 29th. He says loss of coordination and balance, as well as the tremors, have made it too frustrating to keep playing. Cook explained, "I've tried not to burden anyone with the details of my condition because I do not want the music to stop or the party to end. Let me say, I'm not calling it quits but sometimes our bodies dictate what we have to do, and mine is telling me it's time to take a break and heal." Cook will continue to appear at Alabama shows and even perform when he feels up to it.
