Willie Nelson Didn’t Have To Look Far For Inspiration For His New Album

Willie Nelson has scoffed at rumors he’s close to death, but all the publicity has been helpful in promoting his upcoming album “God’s Problem Child,” which features the tune “Not Dead Yet.”

When asked by “CBS Sunday Morning” how he came up with the idea for the song, Willie, who'll turn 84 at the end of the month, laughed. “Oh, I don’t know -- I’ve been killed several times through the years!” Willie joked. “And so I just thought I’d write something funny about it.”

The album does feature several songs with the themes of his mortality, and that’s something Willie doesn’t have a problem thinking about. “You remember one of those deep thinkers, a guy named Seneca?,” Willie notes. “He said you should look at death and comedy with the same countenance. And I believe that.”

“God’S Problem Child” drops April 28th
